Door Trim
To create a smart feature of contrasting trim around a plain internal door frame, you’ll need five 2.4m lengths of 12mm x 6mm half round dowel and leftover paint. To keep it renter friendly, don’t paint the back (to prevent bleed) and install with craft adhesive – no nails. To remove, slide a plastic scraper underneath the trim, holding it flat to avoid scratching the door frame paint. Remove any adhesive residue with sugar-soap wipes.
• Position trim around the door frame, 10mm apart and centred, to transfer the architrave mitres and lightly mark the set-out on the wall.
• Cut trim with a handsaw and mitre box, sand and wipe dust. Apply primer and two coats of paint; let dry. Apply adhesive, position the sides then tops, line up mitres and hold with painter’s tape to dry.
